Spoonful of Hope
Former Mizzou Linebacker and Atlanta Falcons First Round Pick Sean Weatherspoon began "Spoonful of Hope" to teach kids effective life skills, help them overcome obstacles in their lives, and encourage them to fulfill their potential both academically and as people. Through community events, school visits, and holiday initiatives Sean hopes to reach as many children as possible to deliver his positive message while uplifting entire families.
As an extension of ‘SPOONful of Hope,’ in an effort to give back to the community and assist the City of Atlanta in addressing the concerns of underprivileged families, Sean founded his ‘SPOON-feed a Family’ initiative. Sean sponsored five Atlanta families with a $300 shopping spree and gift card on November 22, 2011 in an event that truly changed the Holiday season dynamics for these five families who would have otherwise struggled to celebrate appropriately in the coming weeks.
Additionally, he launched The Sean Weatherspoon Community Football Camp in July of 2011 in Jasper, TX which over 150 kids attended for free. The mission of the camp is to empower local youth through hands-on community involvement, the presence of positive mentors, and academic encouragement. This camp will serve as a signature event in Sean’s ‘SPOONful of Hope’ initiative. In June of 2012, Sean hosted The Sean Weatherspoon Community Football Camp in Flowery Branch, GA in order to reach youth of Atlanta and surrounding counties.
