SANTA CLARA, Calif. — In 2001, Justin Smith set the Missouri record for sacks in a season, with 11.
In 2009, Aldon Smith broke it, with 11 ½.
In 2010, Justin Smith led the San Francisco 49ers in sacks, with eight and half.
This season, Aldon Smith topped him again, with 14 — missing the N.F.L.’s rookie record by half a sack.
The pair share a last name and an alma mater. They dress two stalls from each other in San Francisco’s locker room, and spend time together off the field.
