Alexander Excited for Opportunity

As reporters encircled his locker for the first time since he signed with the Rams near the end of the preseason, Danario Alexander suddenly was entrenched in a hail of catcalls and jokes.

Officially a member of the Rams’ active roster, the local product was greeted by teammates chanting “Mizzou” at him and safety Oshiomogho Atogwe quoting the rapping Drake and asking if “the spotlight makes you nervous?”

After taking a minute to laugh at the good-natured rookie ribbing, Alexander couldn’t help but express his enthusiasm at being on a regular season NFL roster for the first time.

“I am excited for the opportunity ahead and I am ready to make plays right now,” Alexander said. “I am very comfortable. I have been working hard every day in practice and stuff like that. I’m getting stronger in the weight room so I am looking forward to it.”

Only a week ago, Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo discussed Alexander’s health status, saying he was getting closer to getting rid of the atrophy in his leg accumulated from four knee surgeries in the past few years.

The key was getting it so Alexander’s legs measured the same size and knowing he would be healthy enough to contribute if called upon. As of Monday, Alexander met that requirement.
